Wooden Desk Organizer

The Oaknook Wooden Desk Organizer has three separate wells for pens and pencils plus a shelf sized for a pad of sticky notes. It gathers the handful of things that otherwise migrate across a desk over the course of a week and gives each of them one fixed place to be. Pens, a pencil, a highlighter and a pad are the things almost everyone keeps within arm's reach, and they are also the things most likely to end up scattered.

The wells are deep enough that tall pens do not tip when you reach past them, and separating them into three means you can sort by what you use rather than digging through a single pot. The sticky note recess keeps a pad flat and square instead of curling at the corner under a stack of paper. Grouping by use rather than by type is usually the better system: everyday pens in one well, occasional ones in the second, and pencils or a ruler in the third.

Wood throughout, with a footprint sized to sit behind a keyboard without crowding it or forcing the keyboard forward. It works equally well at the side of a monitor riser or on a shelf above the desk. Wipe with a dry cloth and keep it out of standing water. Solid timber gives it enough mass that it does not skid when you drop a pen back into it without looking, which is how a pen is usually returned.
