The Oaknook Solid Wood Coaster is cut from real timber rather than pressed board, so the grain runs differently on every single one. No two are quite alike, which is the difference between a coaster you notice and one you replace without thinking about it. Timber varies naturally in colour and figure even within a single species, so grain, tone and the way light catches the surface differ from one coaster to the next.
It is heat resistant enough for a fresh coffee straight from the machine and thick enough to sit steady rather than sliding when you set a mug down one handed. The solid section means it will not swell or delaminate the way a laminated disc does after a few months of condensation. Solid wood also insulates better than a thin laminate, so the surface underneath stays cooler under a hot mug rather than simply passing the heat through.
Sold individually rather than in a fixed set. Take one for the desk, or build up a matched handful for around the house at your own pace. Several timbers and edge profiles are available, so a set can be uniform or deliberately mixed. Wipe dry after use and keep out of standing water.
