The Oaknook Bamboo Cable Box hides a power strip and the nest of cables attached to it inside a box with a bamboo lid. It deals with the single most visible mess on most desks in one object, which is a better return than almost any other piece of desk tidying. A power strip is the one item on a desk that nobody chooses for its appearance and everybody has to accommodate somewhere.
Slots at each end let cords run in and out without the lid sitting proud, so the box closes flat rather than gaping around the cables it is meant to conceal. The base is ventilated, which matters for anything holding a power strip and a few adapters for hours at a time. Concealing it also protects it, keeping dust, crumbs and the occasional spilled drink away from live sockets that are otherwise sitting exposed on the floor or desk.
Two sizes are available. The small takes a four socket strip comfortably, and the large handles six or more plus the block adapters that never fit neatly anywhere else. Keep it clear of liquids and do not run it covered under a rug or against a radiator. Do not overload the strip inside it, and leave the ventilation slots clear rather than packing the box tight with coiled excess cable.
