A4 Clipboard

The Oaknook A4 Clipboard is sized for standard A4, for writing away from a desk and for keeping the loose sheets belonging to one job together rather than scattered across three different surfaces. It is a filing system for work that has not finished yet. Paper that is not bound into something has a strong tendency to separate, and a job spread across six loose sheets is a job that will lose one of them.

The clip holds a decent stack without loosening over time, which is where cheap clipboards fail first. Sheets stay square under it rather than fanning out, so the pile can be carried, set down and picked up again without needing to be straightened each time. A clipboard is the simplest possible fix, holding the set together while still allowing any single sheet to be pulled out and handed over.

The board itself is rigid enough to write on unsupported, standing up or resting on a forearm, which is the situation a clipboard actually exists for. Three finishes are available. It suits site work, stocktaking, teaching and interviews as readily as a desk. The rigid board doubles as a writing surface anywhere, which is why clipboards persist in kitchens, workshops and warehouses long after tablets arrived.
